Costa Rica

Yesterday we spent the day working on coffee farm owned and operated by a Costa Rican woman. She spent the day both showing us the physical challenges of her work along with the economic ones. I felt so tired after spending just an hour out in the field. I had never done any work like that before. After she showed us how she turns the coffee beans into the actual coffee that she sells to consumers. That was a long process that she does all by herself in her garage. It was really amazing to see how self sufficient and successful this woman. However, she also shared with us the many difficulties she faces being a coffee farmer in Costa Rica. There is often issues with weather and accessibility to be able to sell her product.  She was actually just recovering from the last coffee season that had put her really behind financially. This relates to learning outcome 6 because we were hands on working with a woman who was teaching us about an issue we would have never known about in the US.
